Morning Moments

Psalms 40:4 (KJV)
4 Blessed is that man that maketh the Lord his trust, and respecteth not the proud, nor such as turn aside to lies.

I listened to Arlan Specter this morning and thought of the verse above and realized that power, however it comes feed pride and that pride goes before a fall and a haughty spirit before destruction. Pride is the most subtle of all sins.

Society has lead us to believe that pride is a good thing, but the Bible says, "God resists the proud" and that He HATES a proud look. It was pride that caused the anointed cherub, Lucifer, to be cast our of heaven. It is pride that says, "I am better than you.

It was pride that caused Jim Bakker's fall. It was pride that caused the Governor of South Carolina to fall. When people who ride high do not understand that there is greater responsiblity for those who lead to be confident, but humble, they are subject to fall and fall hard. God resists them.

When we think we are too cool, too good, too smart, too whatever than anyone else, we are filled with pride and subject to fall. A classic example is the current President of the United States who has for a year reminded us, "I am the President...this is what I will do..." He is falling and he will fall hard before he is finished. Not because he is a democrat. Not because he is black. Nor because of any of the things he is criticized for, BUT for his arrogance, and he has many such cousins in Washington and Congress.

ANY leader in ANY area that gets too big for his britches will learn the hard way, if he learns at all, that pride is the most subtle of sins because it's focus is on ME. It's all about ME! Nobody succeeds in any area of life without the grace of God and the good help of other people.

GOD give grace to the humble. No humility, no grace, so get over it and humble yourself before the mighty hand of God, so that in due time, HE will exalt you.

BLESSINGS!
