Morning Moments

I want to digress a bit today for a couple of reasons: 1. the situation in Haiti, and 2: I'm out of spiritual gas this morning. I am physically, mentally, and spiritually spent.

A leading TV preacher has said publicly that Haiti is in league with the devil. I understand what he means, but we should be careful how we say what we say sometimes. The government of Haiti is corrupt. Untold millions of dollars have been poured into the country, but it is rarely, if ever used to help the people. Haiti could be an island paradise, but because of voodoo, political corruption, and crime, no one cares to go there. It is considered unsafe. It is my understanding that the average income is about $2.00 a day. We tend to throw good money to bad in our attempt to be compassionate, but where there is little or no accountability, it is useless.

What is not useless is our personal attempts to make a difference there and thank God there are those who are doing just that; not with the government, but with the people who have and are coming to faith in Jesus Christ. It is these people that we should and must help! Those who care about the souls of the Haitian people.

If I am not mistaken Mr. TV preacher, Jesus said, "...God sent not His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that through Him they might be saved." The world (including the United States) is condemned already if they believe not on Jesus! We have a corrupt government that throws away untold billions and is guilty of fraud and corruption AND is no longer pro-Christian, so why pick on Haiti?

I know I am being a little cynical here, but please forgive me. I get a belly full of people who live in this country as kings and condemn others for being paupers. That goes for the big mouth preachers who said Katrina was God's judgment on New Orleans. JUDGMENT BEGINS WITH THE HOUSE OF GOD the Scripture says.

To whom much is given, much shall be required, and we shall give account to Him for every idle word. If a man claims to be religious and bridles not his tongue, his religion is in vain. As Christians, we do have a responsibility to speak out against sin, but we DO NOT have the right nor responsibility to condemn. Maybe if we did more reaching and less preaching, we could correct the corruption here and in other countries.

If you are offended by this - GREAT! It's time to do something to help the masses and expose the charlatans. In America we tend to think that because a man or ministry is "successful" that it is "spiritual" but that is not always the case.

BLESSINGS!
