Morning Moments

Philip. 4:8 (KJV)
Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.

There are the things which are just. The word is dikaios, and the Greeks defined the man who is dikaios as he who gives to gods and men what is their due. In other words, dikaios is the word of duty faced and duty done. There are those who set their minds on pleasure, comfort and easy ways. The Christian's thoughts are on duty to man and duty to God.

No one with this “just” mind thinks “It’s all about me”. The truth is that life is not about me or you for that matter, it is about Him and our willingness to fulfill our DUTY to Him and as a result we do our duty to man as well.

DUTY is demanded and deserved in every area of life, but it is never duty for duty’s sake, rather it is duty for Christ sake. Whatever duty demands, discipleship does it willingly, cheerfully, and lovingly. There nothing wrong with reminding ourselves that we, as believers in Jesus, are DUTY bound.

Today, do your duty with a disposition of delight remembering that it is YOUR duty and that others are depending upon you and you are the Lord’s servant who serves with the fruit of the Spirit in your life. Start each day by telling yourself, “I will do my best to do my duty to God, my employer or employees, my spouse, my parents, my siblings, my children, my church … AS UNTO MY GOD.

BLESSINGS!
