Morning Moments

Joseph her husband was a righteous man and did not want to expose her to public disgrace, he had in mind to divorce her quietly. But after he had considered this, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream and said, “Joseph son of David, do not be afraid to take Mary home as your wife, because what is conceived in her is from the Holy Spirit. She will give birth to a son, and you are to give him the name Jesus, because he will save his people from their sins.”

He did not want a baby! She was pregnant and came to me for counsel. I shared from the Scripture about God's view of children and His opposition to abortion. I told her I could not make the decision for her because God had made the decision and to disobey would bring consequences. I shared with her how she might appeal to her husband, but when she did he rejected her appeal and her decision. He left her.

She had a difficult time financially, but she grew in grace and the wisdom and knowledge of Jesus. God was so gracious to give her a beautiful daughter who has been a blessing to her mom all her life.

God also brought into her life a man of God some time later, which treated them with the greatest of love and care. The first husband divorced her in her early pregnancy, and so far as I know never came to faith in Christ. Her obedience was not without difficulty but God honored my precious friend. That's how He works. The Word of God made all the difference in her life.

Joseph was a righteous man whose heart's desire was to do the right thing. Before God spoke to him, he only saw two options. God always has another! In fact, for the righteous, His option is the only option. From the revelation and through his obedience we see:

HIS FAITH - "He was a righteous man"
HIS FELLINGS - "He did not want to put Mary to public disgrace"
HIS FAMILY - "Son of David"
HIS FEAR - "Fear not"
HIS FUTURE - "You shall give him the name, Jesus"

Sometimes things happen to us that can "knock" us off balance as believers. Our vision and perspective limits us in our understanding, but GOD sees and knows, and just as Joseph, He will open a way to us where there seems no way. His way is always the "path of righteousness for His name's sake."

Our walk is not a flesh walk by sight, or a fear walk by stress, but it is a faith walk by the Spirit of the Living God.

No matter how things appear, let's give God as chance to appear, for the question is never how but WHO and He is the WHO! He can do, and will do, exceeding abundantly ABOVE all that we can ASK or THINK!

Be a Joseph my brother!
Be a Mary my sister!

BLESSINGS!
