Morning Moments

Luke 1:58-63 (KJV)
58 And her neighbours and her cousins heard how the Lord had shewed great mercy upon her; and they rejoiced with her. 59 And it came to pass, that on the eighth day they came to circumcise the child; and they called him Zacharias, after the name of his father. 60 And his mother answered and said, Not so; but he shall be called John.
61 And they said unto her, There is none of thy kindred that is called by this name.
62 And they made signs to his father, how he would have him called. 63 And he asked for a writing table, and wrote, saying, His name is John. And they marvelled all.

The Declaration “John”
What freedom there is in obedience! When Zechariah confirmed in writing what God had written in his heart, his tongue was loosed and he began to praise God.

How do you reach your family? Have a baby when you are "well stricken in age":) I love the way God places opportunities in our lives for letting others know we are going to do what God says regardless.

The couple had already resigned themselves to the will of God - without debate or disagreement. JOHN was the decision and JOHN was the declaration. So when mom said, John, and everyone wondered dad wrote JOHN and that settled the matter.

There was no competition in this relationship; no bickering, no quarrelling, no selfishness - only submission one to another for respect of God.

Couples that want to do it God's way understand being the head of the house doesn't mean dictatorship and being submissive doesn't mean slavery. How can we miss when we are on God's side and not each other's throat?

Regarding such a relationship, Paul said, "This is a great mystery, but I speak concerning Christ and the Church." Oneness wins! Whether in a home, a team, the workplace, or any place else. It does not mean that we lose our individuality, but it does mean that we work and worship and witness to the harmony that God desires.

When I was young and foolish, I though being the head of the wife meant doing her thinking for her, but I am so glad that she and God were patient in teaching me the TRUTH.

Once I was preaching on this subject and asked a rhetorical question from the pulpit: "Honestly, how many of your wives have changed your husband since you married him?" My wife raised her hand, everyone laughed and the sermon was well delivered by the hand.

Our harmony at home and heart is the strongest testimony I know to the presence, power, and purpose of God for us to DECLARE His Name!

BLESSINGS!
