Morning Moments

Neh 5:7 Then I consulted with myself...

It may sound crazy but I love this verse because it gives great insight into the heart of a man of God who faced great challenges and did something about it.

Ezra and Nehemiah faced the same problems one of which was the intermarrying of Jews with pagans. That was God's command, that His people married His people, and that principle is just as important today as ever. Paul said, "if any marry, let him marry IN THE LORD!" Being married in a church is not being married "in the Lord".

Paul said in his second letter to the Corinthians, "Be ye NOT unequally yoked together with unbelievers..." "Oh but I love him/her." Okay then do it and keep your mouth shut about God's judgment. Don't complain when difficulties come. God said in Ecclesiates, "Go on young man (woman), and do what is right in your own eyes, but remember this, God WILL bring you into judgment for it."

We can arrgue all we wish and offer all the hypotheticals we will, but heaven and earth may pass away, but God's Word will never pass away. COPY THAT! If you love is not based and built (continual process) TOGETHER on Jesus Christ - forget it.

Many a Christian made the fatal mistake of a carnal or natural spouse. The first 30 years of my ministry, I never had one single couple get a divorce while I was their pastor, because I taught the rule, not the exception to it. I explained marriage and divorce. I showed from the Scripture that God hates divorce! But also how to keep it together with Jesus.

We had made God as one of us, tolerant and foolish. That is NOT the God of the Bib le. Break His law and face the consequence because He is JUST, not fair.

I have heard it a million times, "that's just not fair". Fair is a word we coined to say, "I deserve better..." It is all about "me" when someone uses that expression. Who cares if it seems fair, live with it and be thankful.

Our problems today are no different than those of saints through the years:

1. The problem of resisting Authority.
2. The desire for one's whom benefit.
3. The ultimate consideration of one's own feelings.
4. The idea that suffering is sin (Read Job)
5. The problem of being influenced by the world and not vice versa.

I think it would be wise if we have a good talk with ourselves and with God.
Remember Nehemiah - Then I consulted with myself
