Morning Moments

Men are notorious for not stopping for directions. I suppose, even on vacations, that we don't think we have time to “smell the roses” along the way. It is generally the nature of a man to want to get from one place to another by making “good time” doing it.

A lady said to me this week, “Every time my husband says he knows a short cut we end up our in the 'boonies' somewhere LOST.”

I guess I am strange, but I rarely ever take short cuts and if I do not know the highway number or recognize the surroundings, I will stop someone and ask. I have been that way all my life. I think the reason for that is that I never liked wasting time. I have been in the fast lane since birth. BUT GOD...is teaching me there is no hurry. Stay on the right track, steady pace, stay focused, trust Him and get to where you are going safely and without being stressed out.

It used to be that stress to me was like adrenalin which kept me praying, thinking, moving and getting to my destination sooner. How wrong I have been! “Just CHILL” is my motto now.

In all the haste in my life, I look back and see the waste in my life. I couldn't understand why others could not see what I saw in Scripture, after all, it was so plain. I thought I was accomplishing more by going faster, but I was wrong.

Do you know why cruises are so much fun and so relaxing? Because getting where you are going is not left up to you, and there is nothing you do about it. So, you just settle down and enjoy the cruise.

Don't misunderstand me. We are all different. We do not all move at the same pace for sure, but we all can learn from each other and if you need to slow down, get with someone who can teach you how. If you need to speed up a bit, get with someone who can teach you how. After all, we are not in a race.

The early Church prayed TOGETHER, ate TOGETHER, worked TOGETHER, shared TOGETHER, resolved conflicts TOGETHER. That is what unity is.

Remember when we use to take vacations TOGETHER? We all went to the museum. We all learned TOGETHER – with and from one another. Families were closer then and did far more TOGETHER.

SLOW DOWN! Enjoy the trip and understand that loving each other and growing together and knowing that you are moving toward the same destination is FAR more important than how soon or how long it takes to get there. Those of us who are true believers know our destination, but we do not always enjoy the journey with each other. We can change that – if we choose to with the Spirit's help.

This is a life lesson for me. I hope it will help you.

BLESSINGS!
