Job 13:15-16 (KJV)
15 Though he slay me, yet will I trust in him: but I will maintain mine own ways before him. 16 He also shall be my salvation: for an hypocrite shall not come before him.
Suffering that comes to spiritual fruitbearing saints comes to prune them that they bear more fruit which glorifies the Father.
The words of James ring out loudly and clearly - "You have need of patience...the trying of your faith worketh patience; but let patience have her perfect work, that you may be mature and complete, lacking nothing."
Nobody likes a hypocrite - one that places burdens upon you that he/she will not carry. YOU and I usually do not know the reason of another saints suffering but we do know the purpose - It is to prune, purge, purity, and develope patience. Be sure of this, if you have not suffered - YOU WILL sooner or later.
1 Peter 2:20-21 (HCSB)
20 For what credit is there if you sin and are punished, and you endure it? But when you do what is good and suffer, if you endure it, this brings favor with God.
21 For you were called to this, because Christ also suffered for you, leaving you an example, so that you should follow in His steps.
It is so easy to mis-judge a suffering saint by attempting to blame their lack of faith or the presence of sin for their suffering. The rain falls on the just AND the unjust. The sun shines on the just AND the unjust. As believers we have been redeemed from the curse of the law BUT our redemption from the curse of the FALL is yet to come. Now understand that it is a done deal, but it is yet to come. We live in MORTAL bodies; corruptible flesh, subject to human frailty, fatique, and fatality. The difference is in the fact that we REJOICE in our infirmities; we glory in the goodness of our God who is our HELP and our HOPE. Our desire is that Christ be magnified in our bodies whether by life of by death.
Spiritual saints understand that according to Peter we are called to suffer. We are sometimes "buffeted" for our sins, but we must take it patiently and not react to attack. It is the way we share in the fellowship of His suffering, and we can never share in the power of His resurrection without sharing in the fellowship of His suffering. Suffering may come in many forms, but it is not for me to determine who, when, where, or how. I can only judge why, and the why is that God might be glorified.
Jeremiah 9:23-24 (HCSB)
23 This is what the Lord says: The wise man must not boast in his wisdom; the strong man must not boast in his strength; the wealthy man must not boast in his wealth.
24 But the one who boasts should boast in this, that he understands and knows Me— that I am the Lord, showing faithful love, justice, and righteousness on the earth, for I delight in these things. ⌊This is⌋ the Lord’s declaration.
Job knew and understood HIM and could say with conviction: Though he slay me, yet will I trust in him. Life and death are in HIS hands and our lives are hid with Christ in God.
BLESSINGS!
