Morning Moments

[1Ti 2:10] But (which becometh women professing godliness) with good works.

Having said what a woman dress should not be in verse 9, Paul goes on to say what her dress should be in verse 10.

In the first place, doesn't it make sense that any child who knows our Father, and loves our Father, should desire to please our Father? That should be a given, but our modern Christianity has grossly neglected to teach godliness - God-fearing. Reverence toward God. We have sold our birthright for a mess of pottage. We seem only to be concerned with nickles, noses, and numbers. How many baptisms can we report this year, is the driving force for too many.

May I suggest that you do some homework on "godliness" and "ungodliness". It is the grace of God (which brings salvation) that teaches us to deny (say "no" to) ungodliness and worldly lusts and live soberly, righteously, and godly in this present world.

Why pray tell do you think there is so much immorality in the church today? Because we play loose and play to lose. We are careless in our speaking, lawless in our living, and godless in our thinking. If the world is to see the reality of God, it must see Him in those of us who profess our faith to be in Him.

I taught high school and I know whereof I speak. We have placed more emphasis on entertaining kids that endoctrinating them in the Word of God about righteousness, holiness, and godliness. AND, if you think they are just innocent little angels, then you have your head in the sand. They are children and WE must protect them from the evils of this life by lovingly instilling the Word of God in their hearts.

Now, what are "good works"? They are works of faith. The meaning is "performance, the result or object of employment, making or working". Paul said it another way to the Corinthians, "Whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do all to the glofy of God." Then he adds, "giving thanks to God, the Father, by Him (Jesus). THAT IS GOOD WORK, whether you are washing dishes, cleaning house, helping your neighbor, encouraging your friend to live right, or working on a job for the city. Note the "whatever".

I can hear someone say, "Well, what about the men"? Just hang on, that's coming soon, but HEAR THIS, God is no respecter of persons, so what He requires of one, He requires of the other...no passes, no exceptions!

Blessings!
