Produces Good Soldiers Courage in Conflict 1:18
WE NEED A "FEW GOOD MEN"!
Most Christians are oblivious to the fact that we are in a war that rages through the ages. This is not a war against flesh and blood, but against the forces of darkness, "spiritual wickedness in high places", the rulers of the darkness of this world - it is the more intense war ever, and sadly there are to many on sick bay, back at the barracks, AWOL, or just shaking in the foxhole.
To use a biblical phrase - "quit ye like men." It is time to fight as we have never fought before - not physically, but spiritually.
Folks, pay close attention to what I am about to say! We play (with our church recreational buildings, our tennis courts, swimming pools, and all the other "stuff", while the enemies of Christianity pray to their god three times a day with intensity and discipline.
DID YOU GET THAT? You mega churches need to stop these stupid games of who can build the biggest and best kingdoms for Jesus and go back to the "HOUSE OF PRAYER" where ALL Christians are on our faces - not toward Mecca, but toward heaven, agonizing for our nation, our neighbors, and our naughty kids. Shame on us for being so flippant and frivolous about this WAR. We are NOT tearing down Satanic Strongholds! We are NO threat to the enemy. We are NOT armed against and aimed at the enemy of our souls. We are jogging, joking, and jumping into the enemies hands.
The Orders "fight"
Imagine one of our mega church leaders saying something like, "all members of this church will spend the weekend together on our faces before Almighty God. No excuses, no absentees - Be here! He would be laughed out of his cushy "oval" office.
The Officers "presbytery" (implied)
Church member, get this straight once and for all - God has placed those over you who have authority! Got that? They (hopefully) care more about your soul than your obese body.
Not long ago I attended a minister's meeting where preachers preach to preachers and everybody is so blessed because we enunciate well, alliterate well, and articulate well.
It came to a brief time of prayer. "Any prayer requests?" We need to pray for sister Sue who has cancer. She is 93 and is such a godly woman. Bro. Bill is having trouble in his church. He is looking to move. He has been there 6 months, but this church has had problems for years. And on and on with silly requests.
I stood and ask, "What is the worse thing that can happen to these sick folk? They might just die and go to heaven. And just maybe this little church that Bro. Bill is pastoring needs some teaching from 1 Timothy about their sacred duty and his spiritual discernment and authority. Check out the "prayer list" of your church if you have one, and look at the absence of prayer for those who are in the heat of the battle. We prefer to criticize spiritual leaders than to conform and cooperate and even confront. May I suggest that you go to your pastor and ask him to take leadership in agonizing prayer with the WHOLE congregation - maybe all night! "Yeah, right Phillips, that jes ain't gonna happen." Hey, don't shoot me, I'm just the messenger.
After a few other brief remarks, we were dismissed.
WE ARE NOT GOOD SOLDIERS! We prefer to argue about "election" than we had agonize about eternals. And whether or not you wish to acknowledge it, presently in America anyway we are losing the battle. Thank God we know who wins the war, but we are taking too many casualties because we are afraid of the fight! We MUST suit up, stand up, speak up, straighten up and FIGHT! "Be thou faithful unto DEATH and He shall give you a crown of life."
