Morning Moments

Wednesday, 12 April 33

Jesus reminded his disciples that in two days He would be delivered up to be crucified. [Matt 26:2]

How many times does He have to tell us things before we believe Him? This was not the first time nor would it be the last time Jesus told His disciples He must DIE. But they did not want His death nor believe in His resurrection YET.

Who can blame them though? Imagine looking into His eyes day after day, touching Him, listening to Him speak, watching Him as He so compassionately touched a corpse to bring life back into the body. Oh my, who would want that to stop? But it had to. After all, He did not come for those things but He came as the one and only perfect sacrifice for sins - the Lamb of God, slain before the foundation of the world. All of the things that He did were means to an end, and that end was the beginning for all of us.

He is gone now, but only for a moment. He will come again to receive us unto Himself - this SAME Jesus whom those disciples saw taken into heaven in a cloud. He who has given us His Holy Spirit as a Seal, an Earnest, an assurance, it is He who shall come with the sound of the trumpet and the voice of the archangel. He promised and He will perform it! But back then -

The chief priests, the scribes, and the elders of the people assembled at the palace of Caiaphas the high priest and plotted to take Jesus by trickery and kill him. But they said, "Not during the feast, lest there be an uproar among the people." [Mat 26:3-5]

The wisdom of man is foolishness to God and vice versa. What is the choice - trickery or Truth? Trickery led them to their doom but Truth led Him to His deliverance - and ours, through His resurrection from the dead. He told them. It happened just the way He told them and we can trust His truth and be free from trickery and torment.

Jesus left the Temple and taught His disciples. [Mar 13:1-36]

"Your house is left unto you desolate." That was Jesus' final word for the temple and the thieves of the temple. EMPTY! ICHABOD! Nothing can stop HIM, but I promise you that He can stop you, once and for all. That was His message to the hypocrites. How sad! But wait! What about your house? The shell in which you live - is it empty? It was designed to be a place of worship and prayer. What are you trying to fill it with? No matter what, only He can fill it with joy and purpose. AND HE WILL, if only you will let Him into the heart of your house...TODAY!
