Once in a while my head seems to spin. In one week we have experienced such a drastic change in weather; from snow in L.A. (lower Alabama) to gorgeous springtime weather.
The time has changed and I have to think about springing forward in Spring and falling back in Winter. So now I have to get use to longer days and shorter nights. Good grief, getting old is not as easy as I once thought.
To top it off, one of my favorite students when I taught high school for a couple of years was killed in a truck accident. He was the most respectful, studious young man. He graduated from high school last year and in the fall would have a full scholarship to Auburn University.
Please indulge me today as appear a little less theological and a little more personal.
When I was young, I had all the answers, but I fear the questions have been changed. I live in a world in which I don't belong for Heaven is my home. But I remain here for with a Divine Purpose. I now live in a country that is estranged from its Maker and is rapidly moving toward socialism with a debt that the next few generations will have to pay.
This has become a world of entitlements with a congress who does not have a clue how common people live. People don't want to work hard anymore because more of what they make goes for taxes (regardless of what we are led to believe).
We have a "rock star" for a President who does not have a clue about how to get us out of this mess because he lacks the wisdom of God. We will now continue destroying embryos for stem cell research, all bans on partial birth abortions will soon be removed, and same sex marriages will soon be forced upon us all. Down the pike is coming the loss of tax exempt status for faith based ministries to refuse to hire homosexuals.
Then there are the people who walk into churches and for no apparent reason kill innocent people and of course, the problem is not with the people, it is with the lawful possession of guns. Yeah right! DUH! It is the truth people hate so that want to silence the messenger who just goes to heaven anyway.
Is there something in our drinking water that is making us crazy? We have dumbed down educationally. Many graduates can hardly read and can't be made to read in school. Students can use whatever words they wish publicly in a classroom, while parents are permitted to threaten teachers without consequence.
Everyone has a right to say whatever they wish with no restraint, anywhere they wish, EXCEPT preachers of the gospel. I will probably get some criticism from these comments because they are "negative."
Well, get use to it my friend, because the salt has lost its savor and the city on a hill has become a garbage dump with platforms and policies and politicians that stink to high heaven. And if you think for a minute that Jesus would not use a whip in many of our "temples" you are sadly mistaken.
NOW, all this can be changed, so we don't have to sit wringing our hands in despair, but we must let Washington know that we do not approve of the way things are going, bring the "nuts" home from Congress and make the work for a living, limit terms of office so no one can become a lifetime member and sponge off the rest of us as a fat cat with no accountability. We must stand up, speak up, and become willing to die for what we say we have lived for. You may silence preachers who cry in the streets, but you will not silence God who cries from Heaven - REPENT and BELIEVE!
Finally, we can repent of the sin of tolerance of evil, ungodly counsel, attempting to silence the preacher prophets that tell us to stop and go in the opposite direction, flood congress with calls and letters, BUT most of all, cry out to God for mercy in the midst of judgment.
AMEN and AMEN!
