Morning Moments

He had never seen anything as lovely as she. He had known such felloeship with God, but after all God is Spirit. He could touch all the animals; pet them, name them, but found nothing in them to complete what was lacking in him. But God saw the need, anesthesized him and when he awakened, there she was in all her beauty - Eve.

He could talk to her and look at her, but best of all he could touch her, hold her, kiss her. His life could never be the same without her. They were naked yet unashamed. They knew no evil thoughts, no anger, no resentment, no unforgiveness.

Here they were a perfect couple in a perfect garden. No mosquitos to bite; no flies, no agravation, irritation, or anything to annoy them. Paradise!

They could enjoy delectable fruit every morning and delicious raw vegetables every evening. There was plenty of fresh, clean, clear water to drink. No polution, no poison, no pesticides, insecticides -- Only God could bring such bliss to them.

But there was one prohibition - the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. They could eat freely from all the others including the tree of life, but not the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. Why was it there then? Did not God know of the curiosity and the culpret who captured Eve's attention?

Oh yes, He knew, but being in the image and likeness of God gives us intellect, emotion, and volition, and they were in the image and likenss of God. Adam love God, but she had conquued his heart and he never wanted to be without her again. He was almost intoxicated at the mere sight of her, but her skin was so soft, her voice so tender, her eyes sparkled, and her smile so warm and inviting.

He knew. He had not forgotten the prohibition, but he could stand the thought of living without her. He would rather die with her than live without her. So he ate. So he died.

There is another Man and another woman and in the eyes of this other Man she is just as beautiful but she has a terminal disease and is slowing dying. She cannot help herself, nor can anyone else save her. He alone can do it, but He must die to save her. So He drank the bitter cup. So He died for her.

The difference is that He could not remain dead to make her pure. He had to be reaised from the dead. So He was. There is a difference though. Adam's wife died later, but this bride will never die. Because He lives she lives and is not getting older, but better, and one day, she shall be perfect and live is a perfect place with Him.

HALLELUJAH! Even so, come Lord Jesus!
