Morning Moments

What would you say is the most important organ in the body? Would it not be the heart? Could it not be the reason the Bible places so much emphasis upon the condition of the heart? Oh preacher, there is a difference between the physical heart in the body and the spiritual heart in the Bible! Oh really? Hmmm.

The heart beats 2 billion times without ever pausing to rest. Heart disease claims more lives each year than the next seven leading causes of disease. Every 33 seconds soneone dies from cardiovascular disease...more than 2,600 Americans daily.

If you were told that you had a heart disease, what would do? If you learned that your spouse or one of your children had a cardiovascular problem, what would be your response?

I think we can safely assume that all of us would do all we good the these problems "fixed." That being the case, what's our problem with the heart God speaks of? There is a cure for spiritual heart problems. It may require major surgery, medication, exercise, etc. (spiritual of course).

Now follow me here. Let's suppose it is determined that your physical heart needs medical attention of some kind. Would you go to a dermatologist, a chiropractor, a pathologist? After all, they are doctors too. Phillips, get real man, don't be so stupid.

Okay, let's get real then. Why do we so often place more dependence upon human solutions to heavenly problems. Why not go DIRECTLY to the GREAT PHYSICIAN who "healeth all our diseases" according to Jeremiah. He is the chief cardiologist, so why not trust Him to do what ONLY HE can do and fix the "heart" problem.

Whether it is unbelief, unforgiveness, ungratefulness, or a million other things, HE IS THE ONE TO WHOM WE MUST LEARN TO GO! The arm of flesh WILL fail you, and all these humans are just practicing anyway. He doesn't practice, He perfects!

Now in case there happens to be someone reading this who just doesn't get it, I am not talking about NOT going to the doctor when you are sick physically. DUH!
I am talking about NOT going to Jesus when there is a spiritual problem. DON'T resort to quacks or to "home remedies," go to the SPECIALIST...JESUS!

PRAYER: O God help us to see that you alone "fix" spiritual problems, and that if we don't come to you, problems develop in other ares, and effect other people. In a day when we have a specialist for everything to the extent that few have any general knowledge, teach us that YOU are an expert in every area of life.
