Morning Moments

Today I would like to pick up where we left off a couple of days ago with "A", The Guidance of God.

It is important that we understand "how" God guides: Providentially over creation and personally over His children.

IV. The birth of Jesus and the shepherd’s visit Lk 2:1-21
A. The Guidance of God “registered”

Luke does not say that the “taxing” was collected at this time, but rather that people were registered. It was probable that only holders of inherited property had to go to their home town to register; possible Joseph was owner of the house where the Wise men later found the family. While he was in Nazareth he would have rented it out to others, who could not be asked to move for his short stay.

B. The Gift of God “delivered”

For at least 4000 years the host of heaven and the holy of earth had waited and watched for this moment…the fullness of time, when God would step from the portals of glory to this planet of grief, in the person of His only begotten Son…the Gift of Life.

C. The Goodness of God “glad tidings”

The earth is yet far from peaceful, but the angelic host knew that peace could and would come only through God’s Son…That’s good news! The Word assures us of a coming day when men will beat threir swords into plowshares and the spears into pruning hooks and study war no more.

D. The Glory of God “glorifying…praising”

If these angelic beings who have never and can never know the saving grace of our Loving Lord praise and glorify Him, should not we all the more? The Scripture says we are to always praise Him, that He dwells in the midst of the praise of His people.

PRAYER: Father thank you that You do all things well, and that Your Word id true and trustworthy. How exciting and encouraging it is for us to see that You are so giving. Help us in the Christmas Season to give ourselves to You and the Gospel to others.
