I did the blog earlier today and upon re-reading it discovered it was a bit too theological, so I will start another:) My heart's desire is to keep this practical and personal.
Gen 5:3 And Adam lived an hundred and thirty years, and begat a son in his own likeness, after his image; and called his name Seth:
I would like to do two things this morning:
1) See how God allows a disappointment to deliver a delight.
2) See how we can't blame our kids for being like us:)
When Janet and I were young we first had a son, my namesake. We prayed for a boy and got what we prayed for. Our friends said he would have our noses and come out speaking Hebrew:) Of course, he was beautiful, brilliant, and as perfect as a child could be:)
We then asked for a little girl, and Janet became pregnant again, and sure enough it was a little girl, but she did not live. We were broken hearted, but knew God was in control. After 3 years God gave us another son. After three more years we discovered Janet was pregnant again, so we prayed that we might have another little girl. Well, two weeks before delivering, we discoverd there were two babies (we had suspected that), but of course in those days we had no idea about the sex. When they came, there were two of the most beautiful little girls I have ever seen. I got so excited that I completely lost my voice for a week. What I am saying is that every disappointment gives God the opportunity to "do one better" in one way or another.
The second thing for us to understand is that we don't always understand, and when we don't understand there is no need to become angry or bitter, but to be more adoring and better. Two of our kids are more like Janet and two are more like me (it's none of your business which or how):)
They are all four a great blessing and have produced for us 6 grandsons who are absolutly adorable. They are brilliant like Janet and sweet like me:) Yeah sure!:)
The point of all this is to say that we have no need to fuss and fume with God when things don't go our way. So let's stop pouting, pitying, prancing, and parading and just start PRAISING HIM FOR ALL THINGS.
PRAYER: Father, no one wants better for me than you. And no one can take better care of me than you. And the care you give me is the care you give all your children, so teach us to stop whining and start worshipping. Teach us that your way, will, and Word are perfect and that your desire is to perfect in us that which pertains to you.
