Morning Moments

"There is a Balm in Gilead; there is a Physician there." Everything I know anything about needs healing at one time or another. My two day trip to the mountains brought with it a sinus infection. But it was worth it to see the leaves beginning to change; the breathtaking colors; the clear air and cool clear water. I thought about the words of the Psalmist who said, "I am glad that I was afflicted." The illness (in whatever form) always brings us to the desire for healing.

F. B. Meyer says that our problem is that we often resort to quacks. How true it is. There is NO spiritual healing apart from God Himself. Whatever and whoever we turn to may be an instrument in the hands of God, but the healing comes from God alone. Our tendency however is to transfer the cause of our illness to someone other than ourselves, and THAT is the problem.

A spouse can easily transfer affection, for example, to a child or a job, or an hobby, or any of a million things, but to receive healing from God, we must face the problem itself, and acknowledge two basic things: 1) Whatever I am not getting from my spouse I can get from God. 2) I must choose either to trust Him for that intimacy or choose to live without it. The first choice brings healing; the second, hardness.

A child who is not experiencing the bonding with parents or vice versa, may turn to counterfeit means of bonding with a member of the opposite sex, with some other parent figure, or with a close friend. These may be innocent substitutes, but they do not solve the problem. Our bonding must begin with God.

Our society is facing some of the most critical times ever because we have moved from our moorings, lost anchor, removed life's compass. We have become like a sailboat in the midst of the lake without a sail. Even now, we think that a presidential candidate will cure our national ills but IT IS SIMPLY NOT TRUE! Only God can heal this land and He will not do it unless we "humble ourselves and pray; turn from our wicked ways, SEEK HIS FACE" and trust HIM to "forgive our sins and heal our land". We cannot and must not trust in chariots or horses, but we MUST TRUST HIM.

Wall Street cannot save us. Look at the mess these brilliant financial leaders have us in. Washington cannot save us because there is not a thimble full of sound judgment in Congress or the White House. The American Public is sick of the Democrats and Republicans in Congress who have had every chance to make things better but have only made things worse. Credit and globalization have not solved our ills but have only made them worse. Think of all the issues that have plagued this nation that have been all but ignored by our government such as illegal aliens, voter fraud, extortion, bribery, lies and deceit, and on and on.

There is but one solution to ALL our ills - "Blessed is the nation whose God is the LORD!" and the LORD is JESUS! The Father said so and that settles it. So whether the ill is personal or public; financial or family, racism or riches, WE MUST TURN TO THE LORD JESUS CHRIST.

PRAYER: Father, we are candidates for the greatest revival this world has ever known. We can see it among other nations, catching one like wildfire, but we seem to have lost the vision of it. In the Name of Jesus, will you do whatever it is you must do to bring us to our knees in genuine repentance personally and politically and publicly. YOU ARE THE SOVEREIGN LORD. YOU HAVE DONE IT BEFORE. WILL YOU DO IT AGAIN? We have claimed freedom but we have lived in bondage. SAVE us O God!
