Morning Moments

When does a father cease being a father?
In a day of runaway dads, abusive dads, and negligent dads, when DOES a father stop being a father?  Is it when he deserts his family?  Is it when he divorces his wife?  Is it when his child (ren) do not love and respect him, disobey him, dishonor him?  NONE of the above!  A father is always a father though there are some dead beats and deserters.

The point is that being a father is a tough job if it is done Biblically.  How often have we heard folks say, "Well, they (children) don't come with instructions."  I beg to differ; they do and the instructions are in the Word of God, not in the psychology books.  Those things might or might not be helpful, but only the Word of God is the answer.  But, by the way, it is not only the answer to rearing children, but dads too.

One of Satan's greatest victories is male bashing and demeaning men in general.  I know, I know, we have asked for it in many ways, by failing to accept the God given responsibilities of putting Christ first, spouse second, and children third - THEN church.  The enemy of our souls has us in such a financial stranglehold.  But a father is a father is a father, and nothing can change that.  We will be judged by God for our failures but we can all be changed by the grace and goodness of God.

PRAYER:  Father, you are the only perfect father, but your desire is to perfect that which is lacking in us.  Help us!  O, God help us to determine priorities and get our homes in order while there is still time.
