HABAKKUK
Chapters 1-3
A contemporary to Jeremiah, little is known of the prophet, Habakkuk, although tradition makes him a priest of the tribe of Levi according to the Holman Illustrated Dictionary.
The Political scene of the day brought about the domination of the Chaldeans or Babylonians, who would be used of God to besiege Judah, destroy Jerusalem and take the inhabitants captive into Babylonia by three deportations.
The Burden 1:1
The Blame 1:2-4
The Battle 1:5-9
The Bewilderment 1:10-17
The Book (write on tablets) 2:1-19
The Blessing 2:20-3:19
Where is God when it hurts? On His Throne, of course, and in complete control. How often we, as did Habakkuk, scratch our heads in despair and want to “blame” God for not showing up on time as Martha did, or for not doing what we think He needs to do when we think He needs to do it.
He is SOVEREIGN and in complete control of it all, so there is no need to panic! Just PRAY and OBEY! The ways of God are past finding out, for “His ways are above our ways, and His thoughts are above our thoughts; as the heavens are above the earth. BE STILL! BE QUIET! WAIT, I SAY, ON THE LORD! He never fails.
BLESSINGS
