OBADIAH
Chapter 1
We know very little of this prophet except that his name means “servant of Jehovah”.
Edom was a nation Southeast of the Dead Sea whose inhabitants were descendants of Esau. The focus of this book is the denunciation and complete decimation of Edom because of its mistreatment of Judah, and of the deliverance of God’s chosen people.
The Cry - “Arise” 1:1
The Cause - Pride 1:2-9
The Condemnation - Heathen 1:10-16
The Completion - Recompense 1:17-18
The Consolation - Remnant Returns 1:19-21
Make no mistake about it, God is the avenger of those who mistreat Israel, for the promise was to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, NOT to Ishmael or Esau.
God certainly chastens His people, but He will not allow them to be assimilated nor annihilated. All who seek her destruction, WILL BE destroyed.
The land she occupies may be small, but it is the center of the universe and will one day be the center of world worship. THAT land has been given to no other but ISRAEL and all the Muslims and all other enemies of Israel cannot and will not ultimately deny her what has been given to her by God
