Morning Moments

JOEL
Chapters 1-3

Joel means 'the Lord (Yahweh) is God.' The name of his father is given, but merely to distinguish him from others of the same name. He leaves even the time he prophesied to be guessed at. Although modern critics date him late (post-Exilic) conservative scholars place him as perhaps the earliest of the minor prophets, during the reign of Joash (c. 800 b.c.).
