PSALMS III
Psalms 73-89 These chapters correspond to the Book of Leviticus in that they are concerned with the sanctuary. It is important to understand that the sanctuary represents the Presence of God, not merely some brick and mortar edifice which may be empty and desolate. Leviticus contains instructions in worship.
Man’s Relation to the Sanctuary Ch 73-83
As we read these chapters, we discover three main things: 1) The enemy in the sanctuary, 2) God is the sanctuary, and 3) the destruction of the enemy of the sanctuary.
Jehovah’s Relation to the Sanctuary Ch 84-89
In these chapters the emphasis is upon Prayer to and Praise for Jehovah in the Sanctuary. We learn that the Messiah’s humiliation is the secret and source of the blessing and the blessedness of God in the assembly of His saints, His faithfulness to the saints, His covenant with David, and His judgment upon the enemies.
God is serious about our worship of Him! Saints alone have the capacity to seek Him and we must seek Him with clean hands and a PURE heart.
Sadly, we live in a day when “worship” is often more “form” than faith. There is sometimes greater emphasis on “how” we worship than Who we worship and Why we worship Him. One dares not “enter the temple of our thrice holy God with unclean lips and an unclean heart.”
We might learn much more about true worship if we were a bit quieter! The admonition of the apostle was - “Study to be quiet”. Amos spoke of "noise in the sanctuary", and I wonder if we have not fallen into a greater desire to wiggle than to weep and worship sometimes. Selah!
BLESSINGS!
